1. Booking and Payment

All sessions must be booked in advance through our online scheduling system or by contacting The Sound Lagoon directly.

Accepted payment methods include Venmo, Zelle, check, and cash. Recurring clients may request invoicing, subject to prior approval.

2. Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that plans can change and will always do our best to accommodate rescheduling requests. Sessions may be rescheduled at no additional charge with at least 24 hours notice, subject to availability.

Requests made with less than 24 hours notice will be considered on a case by case basis. While we cannot guarantee that the session can be moved or credited, we will make a reasonable effort to find a solution whenever possible.

The Sound Lagoon reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a session due to equipment failure, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, the client will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule at no additional cost.

3. Guests and Conduct

Each booking permits the client and up to three guests unless otherwise approved in advance. Additional guests require prior approval and may be subject to an additional fee.

The maximum studio room capacity is four people, including any Sound Lagoon engineer or instructor participating in the session.

All individuals on the premises must treat the space, equipment, staff, and other clients with respect. Disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior, including excessive noise outside the studio, smoking or vaping, substance use, harassment, or damage to equipment, may result in immediate termination of the session without refund.

The Sound Lagoon is a substance-free space.

4. Equipment Use

The Sound Lagoon provides recording, production, and DJ equipment for use during booked sessions. Clients must treat all equipment and furnishings with care and use them only as intended.

If you are unfamiliar with any equipment, please ask before using it. We are available and happy to assist with setup, signal routing, and troubleshooting during your session.

Clients are financially responsible for damage to equipment, furniture, or the studio caused by negligence, misuse, or reckless behavior, excluding normal wear and tear.

Do not repair, disassemble, disconnect, alter, or reconfigure permanently installed equipment, including rack-mounted gear, patch bays, mounted monitors, or acoustic treatment, without permission.

5. Computers, Software, and Files

Clients are expected to bring their own laptop and any required software, adapters, and storage devices. Studio computers are not included with standard bookings and may only be made available by prior arrangement for select lessons or assisted sessions.

Clients are responsible for saving and backing up all files before leaving. The Sound Lagoon does not guarantee the storage or retention of any files created or saved during a session.

6. Personal Property

The Sound Lagoon is not responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged on the premises. Clients should keep valuables secure and within sight.

Personal equipment brought into the studio, including instruments, microphones, laptops, drives, and cables, remains the client’s responsibility and is used at the client’s own risk.

Items left after a session will be held for seven days. We will make a reasonable effort to contact the owner when possible. After seven days, unclaimed items may be discarded or donated.

7. Creative Work and Ownership

The Sound Lagoon does not claim ownership, publishing rights, royalties, or other rights in creative work solely because it was created, recorded, or developed during a studio session.

Clients and their collaborators are responsible for determining ownership, writing splits, master rights, and credits for their work.

Standard studio services, including engineering, recording, setup, troubleshooting, lessons, and general creative feedback, do not create an ownership interest unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If Jake, Joey, or The Sound Lagoon makes a substantive creative contribution, such as co-writing, original production, or performance, any applicable ownership, compensation, and credit must be agreed upon in writing before the work is commercially released or distributed.

The Sound Lagoon is not responsible for resolving ownership or credit disputes between clients, guests, or collaborators.

8. Photos and Recording

The Sound Lagoon may photograph or record video or audio in and around the studio for use on social media, our website, and other promotional materials. We will ask for verbal consent before recording or publishing identifiable content featuring a client.

Clients may decline to be photographed, recorded, or included in promotional content at any time before the content is captured or published. Private or sensitive sessions will not be documented without explicit written permission.

Clients may photograph or film their own sessions for personal or promotional use, provided that doing so does not disrupt the session, capture others without their consent, or interfere with the privacy of other clients or staff.

9. Assumption of Risk and Liability

Clients acknowledge that a recording studio contains equipment, cables, elevated sound levels, and other conditions that require reasonable care and attention.

The Sound Lagoon takes reasonable precautions to maintain a safe environment. Clients are responsible for following studio instructions, using equipment appropriately, and promptly reporting any unsafe condition or damaged equipment.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Sound Lagoon, its owners, and team members are not responsible for injury, hearing damage, or property loss resulting from risks inherent to normal studio use or from a client’s failure to follow studio rules and instructions.

Clients are encouraged to monitor listening levels and use hearing protection during loud sessions.

10. Minors

Clients under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their first on-site session.
Clients who are 16 or 17 may attend their first session without a parent or guardian present if The Sound Lagoon receives written permission from their parent or legal guardian in advance.

After the first session, a minor of any age may attend without a parent or guardian present only with written or verbal guardian consent and approval from The Sound Lagoon. The Sound Lagoon may require a parent or guardian to remain on-site when appropriate based on the client’s age, the type of session, or other safety considerations.

Parents and legal guardians are always welcome to remain on-site during a minor’s session. They may wait in the lounge or join the session in the studio when space permits.

A parent or legal guardian must sign this agreement for every client under 18. The parent or guardian accepts responsibility for the minor’s conduct, compliance with studio rules, and any damage caused by the minor or their guests during the session.

11. Agreement

This agreement remains in effect for all future sessions at The Sound Lagoon unless a revised version is issued. Clients will be notified of any material changes and may be asked to re-sign.

The Sound Lagoon reserves the right to refuse or terminate service to any individual who violates these terms at its sole discretion.
